Practice 1 with Josh

This was the first practice that i did on Josh of my final design i wanted to do for my continuity assessment. I didn't do it as well i wanted to at all, it was more of a practice run to see what worked and what didn't.

What i took from this practice to help develop my final design (self reflection):

- The eyes needed to be more red and more supra colour needed to be added. Compared to my final design i didn't add any purple or yellow supra colour to the eye area. In my final design i did this as i looked at what sort of colours were around the eyes and what i could add to make it look more realistic.

- The dry lips werent cracked enough. I did not layer the glue up as much and did not pick at the latex once it had dried to create the effect of cracks in the lips. For my final design i also added purples and deep reds to the lips to give the effect of cuts and soreness.

- The contour around the face went a little patchy when i practiced it, so i am going to do this step last and wait for the matte primer to really sink into the skin so that it doesn't effect how the product applies. I could put powder over that area but josh has quite dry skin so i really didn't want to dry it out with powder products.

- The hair was put into a side parting by spraying it with water and using a comb. I realised that i wanted to do the hair first before the makeup in my assessment as then the hair would have time to dry naturally into a side parting, instead of having this wet/greasy look to the hair.

- After this practice i also added some deep lines/ wrinkles to the fore head, which we practiced with sue in previous weeks. I wanted them to be fairly subtle but still noticeable as a sign of ageing to my character.

- I also realised using a smaller brush and a darker powder for the beard, moustache and side burns were a lot better than using a larger brush as i could get much better precision around where the hair finished and on sparse areas, making the overall hair appear even.

I am going to take these points into consideration to adapt my final design for my assessment to improve areas that didn't go as well as i thought they would.
